During the dark days of the hurricane sandy, without a heat/power and phone/ internet connection, I was reminded by Mr. Kushner's book When Bad Things Happen to Good People and I wanted to share with you one of his quotes:
In the final analysis, the questions of why bad things happen to good people transmutes itself into some very different questions, no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it happened. -Rabbi Harold S. Kushner
I had read a few months ago by Harold S. Kushner. I wish someone recommended the book to me earlier. I was angry asking "why us?" after our car accident the day after Christmas in 2010 snow storm. I learned things just happen...
Zoom in to things that are in our hands and that are available to us and cherish them.
Zoom out to things that are in our neighborhood, city, country, globe that makes us see ourselves from another angle.
To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour By William BLAKE- http://www.artofeurope.com/blake/bla3.htm
"No mirror ever became iron again;
No bread ever became wheat;
No ripened grape ever became sour fruit.
Mature yourself and be secure from a change for the worse.
Become the light. Rumi"
As Rumi said, let's become the light to NJ, the US and the World. Wish you a powerFUL, warm, and healthy week!
